Active Release Technique at Elite Spine & Sports Care of Fort Lee!
Active Release Technique, or ART, is a form of manual massage therapy that focuses on soft tissue mobilization. Because muscles, tendons, nerves and blood vessels face various adhesions and damage following an injury, this soft tissue manipulation helps to regain motion, break down scar tissue and improve function. Active Release Technique is now available at our NEW Fort Lee Physical Therapy location!
How Does Active Release Technique Work?
Using manual therapy, the physical therapist applies compression to the affected area in order to promote healing within damage muscles, tendons, and connective tissue. While this compression is being performed, the patient is asked to move the affected area as they normally would. Between the focused compression and repetitive movement, muscles and tendons can be massaged in a way not possible with traditional manual massage. Active Release Technique has been shown to decrease pain, improve mobility and improve blood flow for various sports injuries, overuse of muscles as well as chronic conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrom.
